City Excellence in Teaching is a partnership formed by some of London’s leading schools, dedicated to improving the life chances of some of the Capital’s most disadvantaged young people by providing outstanding tuition for teacher trainees.

Together, our desire for social justice drives us to deliver the best opportunities for those graduates who share our moral principle that by delivering life changing education we can transform the lives of those young people who rely on us.

We work collaboratively to ensure that all of our trainees across CET’s programmes benefit from challenging, varied and engaging opportunities. We fervently believe that this experience is the best way to prepare anyone for the rigours of teaching.

Ultimately, we have high expectations and aspirations for our trainees; we want them to feel part of our learning community and share our pride, passion and commitment. We acknowledge the hard work, rigour and resilience this requires but equally aim to demonstrate how rewarding it is to be part of this vibrant community.

The partnership was first established in 2010, and already we have grown to 14 members (11 secondary and 3 primary schools). In this time we have seen our trainees go from strength to strength. Our career pathways highlights some of the leadership roles they now occupy in schools within and outside of the partnership. This is a testament to not only the carefully devised courses, but to the quality of expert practitioners that work with our CET trainees to help craft their classroom practice.

We welcome all graduates who share our vision, values and desire to provide the best education possible. Our website provides a snapshot of our offer and what life is like as a CET trainee, but if you have more questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always keen to speak with people who want to join us.
